One plan, and it's free
The browser clipper costs nothing, has no watermark, and doesn't require an account. If you're building on the API instead, that's priced separately below.
- Unlimited clips - no daily caps or quotas
- Files, URLs, and YouTube - all sources supported
- No watermarks - your clips are yours
- No account or sign-up - just load and cut
- No uploads - nothing you load leaves your device
- No trial clock - it doesn't expire or downgrade
Clip video you own or have permission to use. Your own footage is straightforwardly yours. Clipping someone else's content for republishing needs their permission or falls under a legal exception like fair use.
Why the tool is actually free
Not a loss-leader stunt - the free tier isn't a trick to get you to a paywall later.
No server, no hosting cost per clip
Because local files are processed entirely in your browser, there's no per-clip compute or storage bill on our end to recover - the economics that force other tools to charge simply don't apply here.
Deliberately narrow scope
Clippingnet does one job - cutting a clip - rather than trying to be a full editor. A small, focused tool is cheap enough to run and maintain without needing subscription revenue.
The API is where paid usage lives
Teams that need AI highlight detection, batch processing, or automation are the ones with real infrastructure costs - that's priced separately below, so the free tool can stay free for everyone else.
How this compares to "free" elsewhere
| Common with other "free" tools | Clippingnet |
|---|---|
| Watermark unless you upgrade | No watermark, ever |
| Free tier capped by minutes or clips per month | No usage cap |
| Account required to export | No account, ever |
| Your video uploaded to their servers | Never uploaded for local files |
| "Free trial" that expires after 7–14 days | Not a trial - this is the permanent plan |
Building something? There's an API too
A separate, server-side product for developers who need automation, AI highlight detection, or batch processing - priced by usage, not bundled into the free browser tool.
- 60 minutes of video processed / month
- All 9 API endpoints available
- Community support
- 25 hours of video processed / month
- Priority processing queue
- Webhook + async job support
- Volume pricing for high throughput
- Dedicated processing capacity
- SLA and a named support contact
Pricing FAQ
Is the browser tool really free, with no catch?
Yes - no watermark, no usage cap, no account, and no feature gate. Every capability described on the homepage is available today at no cost.
Will the free tool eventually require payment?
We can't promise the product will never change, but the free tier isn't a trial designed to expire - it exists because the tool has no per-user server cost to recover, and that economic fact doesn't change over time.
Why is the API paid if the browser tool is free?
The browser tool has no server in its critical path - your browser does the work. The API runs AI models and video processing on our infrastructure for every request, which has a real, ongoing cost that usage-based pricing covers.
Do I need to enter a credit card to use the browser tool?
No - there's no sign-up flow at all for the browser tool, so there's nothing to enter a card into.
Is there a paid "Pro" version of the browser clipper with more features?
Not currently. The browser tool's scope is intentionally narrow (cut a clip precisely), and we haven't built a paid tier of it - if you need more (AI highlights, batch automation), that's what the API is for.
What happens if I exceed the API's free tier?
Requests beyond your plan's included minutes will either queue until your next billing cycle or require upgrading to a paid tier, depending on your account settings - the docs cover the exact behavior.
Can I cancel an API subscription at any time?
Yes, Pro-tier subscriptions can be canceled at any time from your dashboard, and you won't be billed for the next cycle.
Do you offer discounts for students, nonprofits, or educators?
The browser tool is already free for everyone, so there's nothing to discount there. For the API, reach out to sales - we evaluate nonprofit and education requests case by case.
Is my payment information secure if I upgrade to API Pro?
Yes - payment processing is handled by a PCI-compliant third-party processor; we don't store your card details ourselves.
Who do I talk to about Scale-tier API pricing?
Use the "Talk to sales" link on the API pricing tiers above, or reach out through the contact page - Scale pricing is negotiated based on your expected volume.
