Klap for predictable per-video cost and YouTube URLs, or Katto on Creator if you post from the API too. OpusClip if you want its scheduler, but watch the 900-credit cap. See automatic channel clipping.
Five AI clippers expose a usable API: OpusClip, Klap, Vizard, Katto and self-hosted SupoClip. They differ more in pricing model, rate limits and what the API can post than in clip quality. This page scores each on seven criteria that matter when you build on them, estimates your monthly cost per provider from your real volume, and shows which to pick for a channel watcher, an agent, a SaaS feature or a private pipeline. The job model and code examples live on the API and MCP guide.
Editorial scores from building against each API for the reviews on this site. Totals out of 35. "Posting" means the API itself can schedule or publish, not just return a file.
| Criterion | Katto | OpusClip | Vizard | Klap | SupoClip |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Docs and spec OpenAPI, examples, consistency | 5 | 4 | 4 | 2 | 3 |
| Pricing clarity can you predict a bill? | 5 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 4 |
| Rate limits and caps | 4 | 3 | 2 | 3 | 5 |
| Pipeline features templates, ratios, captions, re-render | 4 | 5 | 4 | 4 | 2 |
| Sources accepted | 4 | 5 | 4 | 3 | 2 |
| Posting from the API | 4 | 5 | 3 | 2 | 1 |
| Agent access MCP, auth, free tier | 5 | 4 | 1 | 1 | 4 |
| Total / 35 | 31 | 29 | 22 | 20 | 21 |
Totals flatter generalists. If you only need "URL in, MP4s out" at predictable cost, Klap's low total is irrelevant; it wins on pricing clarity. Use the pick grid below rather than the total.
Enter your volume. Each provider is priced the way it actually bills: Klap per unit, OpusClip and Vizard by credits against a plan, Katto by videos against a plan, SupoClip by nothing but your server.
OpusClip: 1 credit/min, 10-credit minimum per project, API capped at 900 credits or 15 h per workspace/month; above that the API can't run the volume regardless of plan. Vizard: ~1.25 credits/min on API v2; Creator has 600 credits, Business is quoted per seat so it shows as "Business+". Katto: 90-min cap per video; Creator 25 videos. Klap: $0.44 per input + $0.32 per short + $0.48 per export. Prices as reviewed October 2026.
Klap for predictable per-video cost and YouTube URLs, or Katto on Creator if you post from the API too. OpusClip if you want its scheduler, but watch the 900-credit cap. See automatic channel clipping.
Katto (hosted and local MCP, OAuth, all plans incl. free) or OpusClip (hosted MCP, 26 tools, Pro+). Klap and Vizard have no MCP; wrap their REST in a tool if needed. See API and MCP.
Klap or Vizard: you need per-customer cost you can mark up; Klap's unit pricing is simplest, Vizard's 100-clips-per-job and four ratios are richer but rate-limited (3/min Creator, 10/min Business).
SupoClip self-hosted with a local LLM; nothing leaves the network, no caps, your compute. Expect weaker picks on non-dialogue footage and no posting.
Vizard or OpusClip for transcript quality, speaker tracking and ratios; Vizard annual for cost, OpusClip if the API must post to six platforms.
None of the five is stream-native over API. OpusClip accepts Twitch/Kick sources; Katto takes Twitch links. StreamClipping has no public API. See Twitch auto clipper.
Katto free tier (2 videos, full API, MCP, CLI) or SupoClip in Docker. No card needed for either.
OpusClip: templates, brand kits, transcripts, exports, scheduling, webhooks, 20+ sources. Cap and 10-credit minimum are the price of that breadth.
OpenAPI 3.1 spec, webhooks with a retrievable secret, OAuth 2.1 hosted MCP plus a local npx -y katto-mcp, a CLI, and the API on every plan including free. Pricing is per video with free re-renders, so bills are predictable. Loses points on scale: 25 videos on Creator, 90-minute cap, six sources. Review.
Projects, clips, templates, transcripts, exports, posting to six platforms, webhooks; 20+ sources including raw MP4 URLs; hosted MCP with 26 tools. The catch: API use is capped at 900 credits or 15 hours per workspace per month, separate from plan credits, with a 10-credit minimum per project and 4 concurrent jobs. Fine for a channel, not for an agency. Pro is still labelled beta. Review.
Up to 100 clips per job, four ratios, silence removal, captions, 13 sources, poll or webhook. But Creator allows 3 requests a minute and 20 an hour, Business 10 and 60, API v2 costs ~1.25× plan credits, and there's no MCP. Good inside a SaaS with a queue; frustrating for bursty batch work. Review.
Usage pricing on any plan ($0.44 input, $0.32 short, $0.48 export) makes cost per video trivial to model and mark up, and Reframe 2 layouts come through the API. Docs are thin on webhooks, rate limits and export URL lifetime, examples disagree on the base URL, no MCP, and the API can't post. Budget testing time. Review.
AGPL, Docker, local API and MCP server, any LLM including Ollama. No caps, no per-minute cost, nothing leaves the network. Transcript-only picking, face tracking rather than layouts, no posting, and you run the GPU. Hosted tiers exist ($9.99/$24.99) if you want the pipeline without the ops. Review.
Fetch files as soon as the job completes and store them yourself; lifetimes range from hours to undocumented.
Most refund the slot or credits; verify in a test before scaling, and log job IDs for disputes.
An API that posts to a client's TikTok needs their OAuth grant, and your campaign brief's hashtags and disclosure encoded before automation.
OpusClip Pro API is beta; Klap's examples drift. Pin versions, wrap calls, and expect schema changes without notice.
Define your own job → clips interface and adapt each API behind it. Switching providers when a cap bites should be a config change.
In development: job ID on submit, webhook delivery, clip specs. See the API page for status.
SupoClip, if you count only the bill. Among hosted APIs, Katto's per-video plans are cheapest for a handful of long videos, Klap's unit pricing for many short ones, and Vizard annual for high minute volume under the rate limits. Run the estimator above with your numbers; the ranking flips with video length and clips per video.
Katto (OpenAPI 3.1, consistent examples, webhook secret endpoint), then OpusClip and Vizard. Klap's docs need testing to fill gaps.
OpusClip (six platforms via its scheduler on Pro) and Katto (seven platforms on Creator). Vizard and Klap return files; you post. SupoClip doesn't post.
Katto's free plan includes the API and MCP for two videos; SupoClip is free to self-host; OpusClip's free credits don't cover API use; Klap and Vizard need a paid plan.
No. MCP is for an assistant deciding steps; the API is for fixed workflows with retries and logs. Katto and OpusClip offer both over the same pipeline; see the API and MCP guide and clipping MCP servers.
