01Acceptance of these terms
By loading, browsing, or using Clippingnet ("the service," "the tool," "we," "us"), you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you don't agree to them, the only enforceable instruction we can give is: don't use the service. There's no account creation step where you'd otherwise click "I agree," since the tool doesn't require sign-up — using it is treated as acceptance.
02What the service is
Clippingnet is a free, browser-based tool for selecting an in and out point on a video and exporting that selection as a clip, a timestamped link, or an embed, depending on the source. It runs client-side in your browser for local files and direct URLs, and it does not provide video hosting, permanent storage, editing beyond trimming, or a downloadable file export for YouTube sources — see our About page for the honest scope of what it does and doesn't do.
The service is provided "as is." We aim to keep it fast and reliable, but we make no guarantee it will always be available, error-free, or compatible with every browser, device, or video format.
03Your license to use it
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use Clippingnet for personal or commercial purposes, subject to these terms. This license doesn't give you any right to the tool's underlying code, design, or infrastructure beyond using it through the browser as intended.
04Content you clip
You retain all rights to any video you load into Clippingnet and to any clip you export from it. Because local files are processed entirely in your browser and are never uploaded to us, we never take possession of, or any rights in, your source video or your exported clips — we simply have no technical means to.
You are solely responsible for having the right to use, clip, and distribute the video you load into the tool. That includes video you've filmed yourself, video you've licensed, video used under a valid exception like fair use, and video from platforms (like YouTube) accessed only in the ways their own terms permit. Clippingnet does not review, moderate, or have visibility into what you clip, and we bear no responsibility for how you use the output.
05Acceptable use
The tool is built to be used simply and directly. A short list of what that means in practice:
- Clip video you own, have licensed, or otherwise have the right to use
- Use exported clips for personal, educational, or commercial purposes
- Generate timestamped links and embeds from public YouTube videos
- Use the tool as often as you like — there's no usage cap
- Using the service to infringe someone else's copyright or other rights
- Attempting to circumvent YouTube's or another platform's terms via the tool
- Automated scraping, bulk requests, or attempts to overload the service
- Attempting to reverse engineer, exploit, or attack the tool's infrastructure
- Using the service to process or distribute unlawful content
06Our intellectual property
The Clippingnet name, logo, interface design, and underlying software are our intellectual property (or that of our licensors) and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other laws. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of any of that to you. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the service itself beyond normal use through your browser.
07Third-party sources and platforms
When you use a direct video URL, you're pulling content from a server we don't control, and that server's own terms apply to your use of the video. When you use a YouTube link, playback happens through YouTube's own embedded player, and your use is separately subject to YouTube's Terms of Service. We're not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or legality of content hosted on third-party platforms.
08Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory — including, without limitation, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that exported clips will be free of quality loss, sync issues, or format incompatibilities with every platform.
09Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Clippingnet and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the service — even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Because the service is free, our aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you've paid us in the past twelve months, which for nearly everyone is $0, or (b) fifty U.S. dollars.
10Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Clippingnet and its team harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party — most commonly, this would relate to the content you choose to clip.
11Suspension and termination
Since there's no account system, there's nothing to "terminate" for most users beyond simply no longer using the tool. We reserve the right to block or restrict access to the service, at our discretion, for anyone engaged in abusive use — automated scraping, attempts to attack our infrastructure, or similar conduct described under Acceptable use above.
12Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Clippingnet operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in full effect.
13Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms — if you don't, the option is to stop using the service.
